Black Aglets

Black Shoe Lace Tips (Aglets) - Pack of 8

Regular price £2.49

A set of 8 aglets (shoelace tips) to enable repair/shortening of 8 tips.

These replacement aglets (shoelace tips) are excellent for repairing a favourite pair of laces or shortening an existing or new pair to the exact length required. They can be cut to length and using heat shrink technology they are shrunk onto the lace which can then be trimmed.

Instructions are included (we also recommend a bit of superglue inside the aglet, and then on the tip once installed)

Replacement Aglets

Some aglets for sports trainer laces are flimsy plastic so I went for replacements to maintain my expensive trainer laces in good condition.
Many trainer laces today seem to have downgraded their aglets quality which is a disgrace.
I suspect they are buying cheap and cheerful Chinese junk and then rebranding under their own label - disgrace!!!

Great delivery as always.
Having read the other reviews I deliberately used the smaller size in the pack to replace the disintegrated aglets on my shoe laces using a cotton thread to bind the lace end to pull the lace through the aglet. I then used a small catering blow torch to shrink/melt the plastic before gently rolling the aglet to secure it to the lace end. Finally using sharp scissors trimmed the lace ends to neaten them up.

3 stars, because 2 1/2 isn't an available option.,Delivery was fine and the aglets showed up when I expected them. Nice.,I got these to replace the disintegrated aglets which were on my walking boot bootlaces. The laces are still fine except that I couldn't get them back into the eyes after my equinoxal boot-cleaning session: why waste?,The packet contained brown tips, not black, 4 large, 4 regular, so only one chance if things went wrong. ,They are supposed to shrink to fit when held in boiling water for 60 seconds; I followed the instructions: I used a pan on the stove top and shrink they did; stay on they did not. After a slight struggle I managed to get them back onto their laces, took a gentle flame around them and squeezed them on with careful fingers and, so far, they seem to be doing ok - that is, I've managed to get my boots relaced, I just haven't tried them out in the real world to see if the lace tips stay on. ,Not sure I'd recommend these to somebody not prepared to tinker, but the idea is good. ,Maybe next time I'll look into the crimped, metal version of the product.
